The remake of ATA, when the human race goes endangered.

ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct. This is the Prolouge of ATA. Help make the story.

Steps creaked ominously as Converse-clad feet climbed them. Shadows slid in and out of rooms, not sure whether or not to strike. The girl looked deadly, but vulnerable. Would it be a smart decision to--?
BANG!
At once, all the beasts dispersed. There was no way they were about to stick around. One of their comrades sank to the floor, then poofed into blackness, and was gone.
"That's what I thought," Melody sniffed, flipping her long, blonde bangs out of her face. Not bothering to remain quiet anymore, she wandered the building, appearing to look for something.

Reuben was backed up against the wall, fighting a giant shadow. Claws met blade, and moments later the shadow's eyes opened in surprise as it was cut through the hand and poofed into dust. He sighed and heard a loud bang. He wondered what it was.

Her hood covered her face. She followed her footsteps with her green eyes, kicking at any rubble that lay on the ground. Little did Melody know she was not the only one there.

Reuben slowly followed the noise of the rubble, walking around bloody stains on the walls and the torn apart bodies of the once happy people staying. A bloody form of a small boy who looked around four hung on the wall, pinned to it through the head with a large nail. His eyes were gone and shadow leeches crawled out of his mouth which was open like a never ending scream of terror. His hands were gone and long gashes covered his body, intestines and other organs spilling out of his stomach.

Hearing somebody following her, Melody stopped by the mutilated bodies of a young couple, most likely newlyweds. She drew back against the wall, crouching behind an overturned table, carefully loading her gun. In silence, she waited.

Reuben carefully walked through the hotel. Baby wasn't with him today. Sometimes he'd disappear for awhile, and Reuben had a good idea where he was going. He looked around and started down the hall.

He looked at her, not pressing further. He looked around at the dessicated bodies, and bent down and picked up an ancient looking wallet. He opened it and there was a picture of a man. The bolded letters read JOHN BARKER.
