ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

It was what seemed like the middle of the night for Adrian due to the fact that she seemed dead tired, but she couldn't sleep. There was too much on her mind: the raid on the Walmart, the Queen, her own execution. It was a lot to think about.

Calder was asleep next to her, when suddenly, a shadow spider fell on him, knocking the keys to Adrian's cell off the belt loop and onto the ground in front of her cell. The shadow spider hissed, making it's way back up the wall.

Adrian stopped suddenly as she heard the clanging of the keys as they landed on the ground. "Oh, what a coinkidink." She whispered to herself as she picked them up. Then, as quietly as she could, she pushed one of the keys into the lock and moved it this way and that until she heard the pleasing sound of a small click. With a smile, she slowly pushed the door of the cell open only to hear it creak ever-so-slightly. She froze where she was as she glanced at the sleeping jailguard.

Calder was still asleep, but it looked like he was about to stir. The exit was about 20 feet away.

With a relieved sigh, Adrian tiptoed towards the exit. Her heart was now racing with excitement as she reached the door. Only a little longer and she would be out of here and hopefully back to the Walmart.

Shadows still loomed, for they were creatures that really didn't sleep. They hustled down halls, with halfbloods in masks and armor.

Yikes... She thought as she saw all of the shadows. This wasn't going to be easy. With a deep breath, she calmly walked out into the hallway but stayed along the walls in case she was spotted and she needed to try to make a quick escape through one of the doors.

They were making it into the doors, and by the time she reached them, there was a loud voice, sort of like an intercom. "ATTENTION! PRISONER ON THE LOOSE! ATTENTION! PRISONER ON THE LOOSE! BLACK HAIR, GREEN EYES, FEMALE! ATTENTION! PRISONER ON THE LOOSE!"

Adrian froze suddenly as she heard the voice resonate through the hallway. "Dang it.." She muttered as her hand reached to her side for her sword, but instead, all she grabbed was air. Her weapon wasn't there. "Ugh.." She growled as she darted down the hallway before most of the shadows could react.

Shadows spotted her, and all started running after her, spitting. Halfbloods joined in, all grabbing swords from the sheaths in their armor.

Biting her lip, Adrian continued to run down the forever long hallway. There wasn't anything else she could do but flee.

Boom! She made it into the main room, where the door was. A bunch of halfbloods surrounded her.

She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw that she couldn't go anywhere. She had to fight, but she didn't have anything to use. "Okay, if you want to capture me again, you have to at least make this situation fair," She said to them, giving it a shot.

Quickly, she grabbed one of his arms and pulled him toward her so that she could reach his sword. After she grabbed it, she immediately brought her foot into his stomach, kicking him backwards away from her. With a small smirk, Adrian faced the rest of the halfbloods with the sword in her hands. "There, now it's fair enough."

Tightening her grip on the unfamiliar weapon, she prepared herself for their attacks. Adrian carefully deflected some of the attacks, slashing back at the halfbloods even thought she truly didn't want to really hurt them. They were half human after all.

Some fell back, and there was one left. She spun her sword, stabbing it into Adrian's arm

Adrian cried out from the pain as she fell to her knees shifted her sword into her other hand on her good arm. With a little more energy she aimed her weapon at the girls stomach and thrust it towards her. Instead, she caught the upper part of the girl's leg.

Adrian glanced back at the halfbloods before she got back up to her feet and ran for the door once again, holding onto her arm to keep it from bleeding too much though she could already feel the blood dripping down her arm. Ignoring the discomfort from the wound she burst through the doors into the outside world.
