The remake of ATA, when the human race goes endangered.

ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct. This is the Prolouge of ATA. Help make the story.

Reuben walked mindlessly down Doil Street. It seemed like it was going for hours until his feet slipped at the edge of a long dark pit. He caught himself and slowly pushed himself up before looking at a circle of shadows around him. He was trapped. "Fuck me...." He unsheathed his sword, crossed his heart, and slashed at the front row when they all jumped him at once. His sword would pick out of the writhing pile to strike shadows, but he couldn't survive for long.

IC: A scythe sliced the air. Amethyst had cut through a few shadows when they were preoccupied. Her unusual silence came in handy. But she had caught the attention of some and the lunged at her dress, tearing at the bottom of it. Amethyst swung her scythe and it caught them in its wake. Amethyst hurried to get to Reuben.

"A-amethyst?" He called out, slashing outwards in desperation. He was being pulled into the pile, but it seemed to grow smaller and smaller with each swipe.

He finally broke free and stabbed at the shadows clawing at his ankles. He slashed at all of the shadows jumping on him.

Amethyst cocked her head at them all and looked down at her feet to see a like baby lesser shadow. Her heart jumped and she scooped it up in her arms.

Reuben looked at the shadow oddly but didn't move. Before the apocolypse he was able to tame animals, why not shadows? He kept his hand on the hilt just in case.

He handed the shadow back to Amethyst. He looked at the ground, to see where all the shadows were. Would it become a monster just like these? He couldn't find the heart to kill it, so he let the question drift off to the back of his mind.
