ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Snow squatted down at the base of tree, out of breath. Taking out her locket, she started to become misty eyed. I miss them all so much... The locket showed a picture of an African man hugging a Dutch woman, both smiling. Snow looked at the moon. Nearly breaking midnight, great. She started running again, until she collided with something.

With an oof, Sorren fell to the ground. "Oww..." he sighed. "What was that..." he studied the best he could in the moonlight, the thing that collided with him. It was a girl. "Ermm...hi." he said.

Reacting quickly, Snow rolled to the side, ready to attack the boy. After studying him for a few seconds, her posture changed to a more polite tone. "Hi... What are you... Doing in the forest?" She asked, cocking her head to the side like a dog.

Snow took one step closer to the boy. "Your name?" Snow asked also stretching out her hand for a hand shake, exposing tarnished yet expensive looking bracelets.

"Snow...", she paused, trying to think of a last name. "Snow Foster." She smiled nicely. She let go of Sorren's hand. "Pleasure to met you. Now, where is a warm place to go here? It's rather cold at night..."

After a short walk, Sorren had led her to a large building. Light flooded the windows. He walked through the automatic doors. "We have a visitor!" he shouted.

Adrian was sitting on the bench (of awesomeness), half asleep. As Sorren's voice rang through the Walmart, she jumped up and quickly walked to the entrance. "Oh, hello!"

Snow looked at everything, then at the girl. "Hi..." She said carefully. Twirling her unkempt blonde hair in her fingers, she started to walk a bit, then turned to the people. "This is a Wal*Mart?"

"The reason the world is the way it is right now," She answered. "You know, being dark and all, is because of shadows that have basically taken over and killed almost everyone. Right here in this town is the very heart of the shadow kingdom. Just a little ways from here is the King's fortress itself."
