Reuben hit the ground hard and closed his eyes for a breif second. His sword clanged somewhere in the distance. He crawled towards Skylar's sword, blood trickling down his mouth.

Annabelle recovered slowly but surely. She rushed at Mallix. Her sword stabbed out at his leg in front of her.

His hand gripped the sword and he got up shakilly, rushing the dog-like monster.

Suddenly, a shadowy wave shot out from where Annabelle hit, sending her into the wall. Sorren jumped out of the cloud of dust left by him, and retrieved his spear. Mallix swiped Reuben with his tail.

Reuben tumbled backwards, and Baby took his chance. He bit into Reuben's wrist, making him drop the sword. Baby, not wanting to take chances, booked as fast as he could.

Ananbelle once again hit the wall (this is like Luna always getting hit in the shoulder). She could barely get up this time. The pain hurt too much. Fire flowed over her bones.

Skylar finally managed to get up. She twitched from a muscle spasm. "Ow..."

Sorren looked back. "Guys don't give up!" he called, stabbing the thing in the forehead. It growled, and slashed him. Sorren knelt on one knee, blood flowing from a few torso gashes.

Reuben rushed over to Skylar, blood flowing from his wrist and a small trickle coming down his mouth. "Are you alright?"

Skylar nodded. "Mhm."

Annabelle stood slowly and half ran, half limped toward Mallix. What was that he hit me with? she wondered. Her sword sunk into his tail tip, almost cutting it off.

But the tail swung, hitting Annabelle. Mallix was still in good fighting condition, but was still injured.

Reuben nodded and looked hopelessly at Mallix. He crossed his heart slowly, thinking that he was standing in the place where he would die.

Suddenly a loud bang was overheard, followed by a puff of smoke around Mallix.

The monster's roar emitted. Sorren looked up, panting. Blood pattered the floor around him. "What the..?" he breathed. This place was full of surprises.

Cloud walked up, his footsteps loud in the almost empty mall. His face was emotionless, with empty eyes. He held up his cutlass and leaped at Mallix.

Annabelle watched Cloud as she recovered from the blow Mallix gave her. Is he mad at me? She wondered.

Mallix screeched, trying to land a blow. He slashed at Cloud with his paw.

The claw grazed Cloud's side, spraying a shower of blood on the white (?) mall floor. He slashed his sword across Mallix, jumping off and gripping his side with a gloved hand.

That was it. Mallix let out an agonising screech, and fell into a puff of dust. When it cleared, a purple gem remained.

Annabelle stood and walked slowly towards Cloud. "Cloud...? Are you okay?"

Cloud looked back at Annabelle with hurt eyes before picking the gem from the debris. He sheathed his sword and held a gem and a vile side by side. "No...I'm not."

"Cloud... please don't go... let me explain myself." Annabelle's voice faltered. She didn't want him to leave again.

Sorren managed to stand, faltering a little. Blood trickled from his mouth. "So you're Cloud..."

"What is there to say?" Blood trickled down Cloud's waist and pattered on the floor.

Annabelle looked down. She was trying to think of how to word this. "I do love you Cloud. You have been great since you opened up to me. But I don't love you the way you want me to. I wish I did so I didn't have to see you in pain because of me. But... I don't. But please come back to the Wal-mart. I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you because of my feelings." She looked up at him. Tears were dripping from her eyes.

Cloud stared at her, then his head bowed. He tossed the gem to Annabelle and held the vile in his hands. He clenched his fist and was gone with a overly strong scent of perfume and a pink cloud.

Reuben rushed forward. He skidded to a halt, realizing that he would never catch him. He turned to Annabelle and stared at the gem. "What's that?" He asked in a hushed voice.
