ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Bella moaned and closed her eyes sharply, intaking a breath. "Are we almost to the Wal-Mart?" She asked Alex in a weak voice, her snow white, splattered with crimson blood. Somehow in the trek home, Hilly had found Bella and Alex, and limped with a minor foot injury.

Alexander shoved himself through the doors, seeing something move out of the corner of his eyes, but he didn't care all too much at the moment. "I think we're here." he glanced around. "Where do I need to take you?" He shrugged her up.

Alex nodded and took her into the room. She had said before that a good amount of people had lived here. Great. Where were they now, damnit?
He brought her in the room and caught sight of one of them. Ohyay! He laid her down on the table. "Some british punk tried to kill her." He answered hastily, moving the jacket on her to reveal the wounds.

Alex narrowed his eyes and nodded at Loki, leaving the room without saying the word. He ended up sitting in an awkward spot next to Hilly.

Loki pricked the drip stand tube into Bella's arm, and let anaesthetics flow into her veins. When she was asleep, he studied the bullet wound. "Now she is lucky." he breathed, pulling the bullet out with tweezers. "The bullet missed her spine and tucked itself in a fold of her small intestine."

Alexander lowered his head, blocking his mind out of most thoughts as he absent-mindedly patted the dog on it's head, only shifting his gaze back to the room when Loki spoke. "Are you also a doctor of some sorts?" He wondered quietly, wanting to pass the silence but also not wanting to focus his attention on the girl on the table, lest the worst came. He sighed. He didn't speak all that loud and he didn't expect an answer, instead he stared at the ground before him.

Loki didn't look up from his work. "Of some sorts. I took a course in the field of medicine before the apocalypse." he explained. It was one of the only things he remembered doing before waking up that day many months ago. "I got stuck with this job, and gradually learned more."

"That's very respectable.." he answered. The young man didn't waver for quite a few minutes, almost thinking about shooing the dog away, but silently enjoyed it's dull company. A dog couldn't possibly read his mind or invade his privacy. "She will wake up, won't she?" Alexander called once again, having felt it was finally a good moment to ask.

"Of course." Alex silently stood up and walked back inside, heading over to a small table. He emptied some into a small flask and spun around, watching Loki finish her work. He tightened his grip around the small glass, god help that kid when he found him...

Alex nodded his head. "Thank you." he muttered and stepped forward, giving Loki a curious look as he bowed to him, but otherwise paid no mind. He stood over Bella and brushed some of the hair out of her face before holding the chemical near her, waiting a few moments for a reaction.

Bella's eye lashes fluttered, and she opened her eyes. "Wha-?" She looked over at Alex, then Loki, then Hilly, then back to Alex. "Can I have some water?" Her voice was hoarse, and her eyes a bit bloodshot.

"Huh?" He drew the glass back quickly when he saw her awaken, "Ah, right. Of course.. of course." He set the salt down and covered his mouth thoughtfully, glancing around the room and spying a small sink. He walked over and filled a small plastic cup, bringing it back to her. "Here." Alex offered it to her.

Alexander lowered himself until he was down to her level. "You don't remember who shot you? Anything? Telling me you wanted to fly to the moon?" That last sentence held the smallest hint of an ice-breaking tease, thanks to the girl silently commanding his every movement and thought, but his face showed nothing else but silent rage and disbelief.
