ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Reuben walked past the Hotel, surprised when a Ghost Shadow flew past his face with a long "suuuu." His shadow was at his side like always, when he heard a distinguished growl. He turned around to see a pack of Shadow Dogs, about to surround Reuben and his precious shadow. He crossed his heart and drew his sword, the shadow latching around his throat like a necklace.

IC: Skylar sat at a distance and watched Reuben. She wondered if he always crossed his heart before fighting. She looked at the rough looking dogs, which didn't seem to notice her either.

IC: Reuben sliced one, which instantly turned to smoke. Another one leaped and knocked him to the side. He wrestled with the shadow on the ground before breaking its head on a rock, where it went limp and shriveled to ashes. As he tried to get on his feet he was pushed by another dog, and he was to the ground, staring eye to eye with a dog. HIs sword skid away from him, and his arms were pinned by the paws.

IC: Skylar hesitated a moment. She wasn't sure if she wanted to get in between the dog and the boy but she shrugged it off. She gripped tightly to her sword and moved toward them gracefully. Skylar then split the dog's head in two, her sword barely stopping in front of the boys nose.

Reuben got to his feet and nodded to Skylar. "Thank you." He choked out. The other dogs didn't seem happy. "Mind going inside?"

"No, I insist." He said with a mock bow before turning around and slashing at the dogs. He let the shadow loose from his neck and let it crawl inside.

Reuben stabbed at onem getting a good poke at its eye. He stepped back and slammed the door. "How do we get out now...?" He asked dully. The dogs had the doors, and he had no idea how to navigate the place.

Skylar let her mind maul the question over. She thought of giant ugly shadows. But it somehow changed to them doing the Chicken Dance so she started to laugh.

Suddenly, a whistling went over a speaker. A scream was heard over it, followed by a screeching noise.

Suddenly, it was quiet, but a bumping was heard in the ventilation shafts. Suddenly, a nightcrawler jumped out of the ceiling.

Skylar started to run through a door off to her right, stairs. She climbed them. "Hurry!" she yelled back to Reuben.

The nightcrawler vanished, as the loud speaker blared a low voice, which could only be done by slowing audio. "We are having troubles on Floor 1. Exterminate..." it said. Suddenly, ten nightcrawlers jumped from the ceiling.

Reuben took one look at the Nightcrawlers and booked up the stairs. He went head on with one of the fast runners, which scathed his arm, but he kicked it back down the steps. He ran to Skylar.

Skylar kept running, not wanting to get caught by the shadows. They had made it to room two. "Oh fuck me... We need to find a safe room!"
