ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Reuben was thrown back, but he threw his sword and caught the Nightcrawler in the leg. He stumbled to his feet, looking around wildly.

The Nightcrawler fell, and slowly disappeared. Soon, all retreated, at the sound of a large thud. A bigger shadow was coming. When it crashed through the ceiling, it looked familiar. It was the same shadow that abducted Amethyst.

Skylar backed up and tripped over the last stair. "He doesn't look friendly." Skylar commented.

He squinted and recognized the shadow. He handed his own shadow to Skylar. "I have some personal buisness with him..." He stabbed his sword into the ground and rushed it, a foolish move.

The shadow grabbed hold of his shoulders, and transmitted a dark aura into Reuben.

Time seemed to slow for a second, but he kicked his legs out and grabbed his sword from the ground. He stabbed down on its chest, giving it a few good slaps and punches before it faded into smoke. He turned to Skylar, feeling a little dizzy. "Let's get out of here."

Suddenly, the doors weren't crowded with dogs any more. It was save to go outside once more.
