ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Reuben walked slowly into the building, not sure of what to expect. He looked around with cautious eyes, wary of movement.
Cloud had stalked him there, and had a familiar shape writhing in his hands, desperate for escape. He leaped up and scaled a wall, watching Reuben as he entered.

Skylar stood beside Reuben with Annabelle behind them. She wanted to explore and she saw this was the only opportunity.

Reuben spotted something, and slashed out as an unidentifiable shape leaped towards them with huge fangs. "These shadows are pretty fucking weird..." He muttered.

Skylar nodded in agreement. She turned around to see Annabelle but found she had wandered off.
Annabelle stood in a different room. She figured it was like the break room on that floor. She grazed her fingertips softly on the furniture.

Reuben looked to Skylar. "Where did...?" He didn't finish, gazing at the place around them. He had an eerie feeling about it.
Cloud silently made his way after Annabelle. He walked up behind her and grabbed her and leaned against a wall. "Nice meeting you here."

Annabelle was taken by surprise but she quickly recovered. "You're that one guy that came to the Wal-Mart. What are you doing here?" Her eyes were soft but fierce.

"Oh, you can't give me more of a warm welcome?" He picked up a struggling shape in his hands and held it by it's ear/attenea thingies. His cutlass was drawn in an instant. "I'm sure you've heard of the infamous Baby."

"Ah..." He stepped forward with his cutlass. "As I've been studying that fool, I noticed this...thing following him everywhere! Apparently they were bestest of friends until...I awoke it's true side with this." He held up a small, dark whistle. "I found it while I was stuck in that school. The foolish Shadow King must use these to make the new soldiers pledge alleigance..." He mused.

Annabelle made a grabbed for the whistle. She was angry that he would go so far to hurt his own brother. His blood. This boy was sick. Something was wrong with him.

The whistle was snatched from his hand, but he didn't seem to mind. "Go ahead, take it. It's not like you'd want to use it. Shadows in the area are attracted to the call." He said smoothly. "Your friends have had incidents with raids in the past, so I think they could handle it." He snatched it back from her hand and blew deeply into the shadowy whistle, letting loose a high pitch ring.

"It's a little test for my brother." He said with a snicker, and jumped into the darkness.

Skylar finished it off. More shadows were coming. "What's going on!?" she voiced.

Cloud dived away and hid in the darkness, watching Reuben. How will you react? He looked at Baby, still struggling in his hand. He smiled wickedly.

Skylar nodded. "Calm down. We'll get through this." She could sense he was scared. She was too but she knew better than to show it. It made the situation worse.
Annabelle felt weird. She wondered where Cloud had gone. Why he hadn't killed her. She sighed and walked to go find Skylar and Reuben. They needed to get out.

Shadows poured out, confused on where they were supposed to go. They looked around until they saw the humans, glaring hard. He slashed through the horde, yelling out Annabelle's name.

Reuben ran after her when he was stopped, and looked towards Skylar. His eyes were wide, but they flickered and he drooped and slid off of Cloud's sword. His eyes were filled with a shadowy aura, when he crumbled beside his brother. A possesor floated there and flew towards Skylar.

Skylar's eyes widened. "Reuben!" She rushed the possessor and stabbed it in the head. She ran over to Reuben while Annabelle took Cloud.
Annabelle crouched beside Cloud. "I bet you regret doing that..."
Skylar fumbled around with Reuben's wound. She listened to Annabelle while she did. What did she mean? Skylar shook her head. She'd ask later. Reuben needed her help now.

Cloud's eyes open to see Annabelle. He unclenched his hand to reveal the whistle. "They won't stop coming...The way to call them off is...is..." His eyes shut again, exhausted.
