ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Getting in Trouble

Luna waited for everyone to sleep before getting out of the Walmart. She had her sword strapped to her back and clothes on every inch of her body except for half of her face. The other half was covering her mouth with a scarf she had gotten from her mother. She shut the door softly behind her so no noise was made. She set off to the most dangerous place she had heard rumors of. The Windbreak Mall.

Shadows began to creep forward in the Windbreak Mall. Something was down there. Something...unpleasant...
Lance found himself in the middle of a dark room, a figure infront of him. It was humanoid...and grinning. Without thinking, Lance charged at it. It frowned and extended claws. It stabbed right through him. Lance shouted, but it seemed no one could here him. Suddenyl, another pain hit him. A gunshot,to the leg. He staggered, and blacked out...
Lance woke up with a jolt, sweat beading down his face, despite the cold weather. Was it just a dream? he thought, glancing around the room. Where is Luna?

Luna was at the entrance to the mall already. She watched as all the shadows went past her, Am I invisible to them?, she thought. She opened the door and it slammed shut behind her. She made no movement.

They seemed to be holding things....food? No, body parts. The shadows were in a line as if ready to make offerings. They hadn't noticed Luna...yet.

Luna breathed in deeply and walked forward. Hopefully she could find out what was going on here before they noticed her, before she died, if fate allowed it. She noticed a glow coming from a room where the shadows lined up at. She walked towards it.

Suddenly, a large screech sounded, as well as shrieks from shadows. Puffing black smoke filled the halls. Shadow smoke...
Lance put on his black jacket, and grabbed his gun. He didn't know what time it was...frankly, he didn't know how time even existed. He walked outside. It was freezing. He checked the thermometer in his pocket. -16 He sighed and walked on.

Luna was glad she had a scarf protecting her nose and mouth. These were fumes she did not want in her lungs. She kept walking until she was at the door where shadows were in line. She got in line hoping they were too busy to notice her. Fresh meat.

The line lead to a large room. But that wasn't the worst part. Inside, was a monster. It was about 30 feet tall, and was made of purple bones. It's violet eyes gleamed, and it's tail lashed. It picked up a shadow by it's mouth, and ripped it to shreds with it's sharp teeth. The shadow vanished in smoke.

Luna held her covered mouth with a gloved hand. It was horrible how shadows acted. She regained herself and walked into the room. "Lance won't save me this time." she murmured to herself. She needed to prove herself a worthy swordsman, she didn't always want to be saved.

The monster looked up, and spotted her. It screeched, and charged, knocking shadows out of it's way, all disappearing in a puff of smoke. It's eyes suddenly glowed. The mall doors were locked.

Luna didn't move. Didn't make a sound. She was utterly calm. She was used to shadows. No matter how big this one was it was just another shadow. She gripped her sword tighter.

It lashed it's bony tail, making a clacking sound. It swiped it's "paw" at her.

Luna immediately dodged. "Looks like I'm not getting out of here without killing it. So that's just what I'll do!" She rushed it and slashed at its "paw".

Luna rolled to the floor and against the wall. She hit her head against the wall. "Ow..." she groaned. She quickly recovered and went at it again. This time she slashed off the tip of its tail.

It screeched as it's tail waved wildly. It then pounced. A pounding could be heard on the entrance.

Looking frustrated, it's eyes gleamed. Two Para-shadows appeared. They charged at Luna.

The other tried to hit her with it's horns, diving head-first. The monster's eyes gleamed, as it did nothing but watch it's remaining minion.

Luna stabbed it in the middle of the head but the tips of the horns pierced inside her many layers. She winced as she felt it go into her skin.

The monster suddenly shrieked and staggered, before finally disappearing. Though it felt odd, like that wasn't the last time seeing it. Suddenly, the doors unlocked, and Lance flew inward from pushing against the door. "Wawhoa!" he fell on his face.
