ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Shiloh looked around. She found some sticks and started making a fire. "As long as that storm holds, we're stuck." She said, blowing on the small fire to make it bigger.

Jude nodded, turning his head so he could look out of the cave at the rain falling hard against the ground. "I guess so." he replied. Then he threw his shirt into the pile of wet clothing and sat down beside the growing fire to dry off more. Basically all he had on now was a shark's tooth necklace and his jeans. He wished he had a shirt, but his was still damp and he definitely didn't want to be any colder than he already was.

The fire started growing. Shiloh had on a sleeveless shirt, which exposed a star shaped tatoo on her arm. Her brother and sister had one too. Shiloh looked outside. A lightning struck a tree, which fell shortly after.

Jude' s eyes were misted over with thought as he warmed his hands by the fire. For a split second he looked up at her arm, then he looked back down. "Nice tattoo." he mumbled. His eyes glowed in the flickering light.

Suddenly, the entrance to the cave was blocked by two large fallen trees.

Jude stared in horror, then heard Shiloh and his brow furrowed. He bit his lip in hesitation for a moment, unsure. But then he slowly crawled over to her and sat down beside her, gently and somewhat awkwardly patting her back. "It'll be okay." he said quietly in reassurance. "There's a way out, I'm sure of it."

Jude went looking for a way out and found another opening on the other side of the cave. He called for Shiloh.
