ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

Reuben wandered into the school, curious about Skylar's plan. Could they really raise an army? Reuben made sure that Baby was safely inside the sock, not wanting to bring up any instincts the young shadow might have. It must be a shadow mating ground. Skylar's words echoed in his head. He hoped that Baby wasn't horny (X3). He crouched down and examined an egg, peering closely.

Adrian had been wandering through the streets for the first time in while, thinking about.. well, almost everything. Her brain couldn't focus and her body was restless. In other words, something was bothering her, but she couldn't figure out what until she found Reuben enter the elementary school. "Reuben, what are you doing?" She called out after running up to the school and peering through a broken window into the dark.

Skylar walked into the room from the hallway. She froze when she saw Adrian and Reuben together. The immediate worst popped in her head. She shook it to get out the mental images. "U-um... H-hi..." She said, nerves getting the best of her.

Adrian turned her attention to Skylar. "Oh, hey!" She greeted happily before turning back to Reuben. "What do you mean shadow daycare?" Finally, she got a good look around the room they were in. The eggs lay all over the place, and the fact she didn't realize they were there before startled her. "What... what are those?"

Skylar shook her head. Her left hand gripped her wrist, claws silently sunk in. She decided to answer Adrian's question. "T-they are e-eggs."

Reuben looked at Skylar with concern. This wasn't like her. But he finally broke his gaze and nodded. "Yes, eggs. Nothing to bad could happen here right now though. It's mostly babies and eggs."

She backed away from one of the eggs she was near. "Whether they're harmless or not, that's still gross..." She shivered at the sight of all of them.

Skylar shrugged, mostly to get rid of how awkward she was feeling, but it didn't work. Nerves crawled up her spine like spiders. She bit down on the inside of her cheek. She didn't understand why she was feeling this way. Something's wrong... she thought. She was right, though she didn't know it. Something evil that was dormant was beginning to awaken. Her body was just telling her to run.

Reuben suddenly shivered. He felt as if something was watching him. He turned around, but there was nothing but darkness. What could possibly be here? Goosebumps appeared on his arms. He looked to Skylar. Nothing could be here.
Suddenly, a large black figure awoke fully. It stood to its full height, tasting the fear of the humans.

In the silence, Adrian's eyes darted around in search of anything. Paranoia was starting to set in and the pitch black hallways and rooms of the school were starting to freak her out. "Um, do either of you have a really bad feeling about this place?" She asked quietly.

Reuben stood up. "Yeah, maybe we should leave-" A trembling shook him off his feet as all the young shadow lovers scrambled for cover. The Reaper was at the end of the school hall, moving slowly and ominously.

Skylar could sense the evil presence now. She shivered and bolted off toward it. Maybe if I cut it off it won't hurt them! she thought. She prayed they wouldn't follow.

Adrian had also lost her balance at the shaking of the ground, but managed to catch herself on the wall. After pushing herself back onto her feet and carefully avoiding some eggs, she looked in Skylar's direction. "Where are you going?" She called out after her and now Reuben.

Reuben skidded to a halt, and drew his sword also. "What are you doing?" Baby sprung from the sock, and grabbed a ruler from the floor.

The Reaper hissed as the sword struck him. A scythe seemed to form into his hand, and he swung the giant weapon at his attacker.
Reuben wasn't about to let Skylar die, but he wasn't quick enough to move. He prayed as he saw the blade move that she could block it.
Baby was terrified as shit, and had run like hell as soon as the blade appeared. He stumbled over eggs and pushed shadows out of his way and leaped towards Adrian.

Skylar brought her blade up just in time to block the scythe, she was pushed back a bit though. Determination was set in her eyes like a fire just starting. A whole other person was taking over. The same person that had killed Liz. Her jaw was set and the nervousness disappeared. She was ready to fight.

Reuben stepped back, his sword swinging. He peeled a crying Baby off of Adrian's leg and put him in the sock. He breathed slowly, his heart seemed to grow wings and fly away as he looked at the pitch black evil of the Reaper.

Reuben's eyes jaw slacked. The Reaper was sent backwards in surprise. It shook it's mighty hooded head and swung the scythe, missing by inches. He used the handle of his blade and sent it into Skylar's stomach.
