The remake of ATA, when the human race goes endangered.

ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct. This is the Prolouge of ATA. Help make the story.

Reuben walked with his shadow. He smiled as it picked up things and examined them with curiousity. It looked as if it was enjoying the small rock it had until a shadow cast across the street and before Reuben could move, a Valgon swooped out of the sky and grabbed his beloved friend. The shadow screamed shrilly as it was plucked into the sky, and Reuben grabbed on to it, slashing wildly at its feet as it soared away with the human and shadow.

Skylar was a few yards away. She noticed the valgon taking away a... living human! She started to run after it. Not knowing it was Reuben.

The valgon did a barrel roll and it faceplanted to the ground. It turned and hissed at Reuben as he drew his sword. It bitch slapped him with his wing and started to take off again, clumsily.

The Valgon stopped and thrashed around from the pain, trying to get at Skylar. He shook the shadow like a rag doll. Reuben rushed at it and ran it through, where it threw the shadow into the air.

Reuben looked at Skylar with gratitude, just as the Valgon did one final backhand before falling to the ground and dissolcing into dust. Reuben skid over to Skylar on a wounded back, where he looked up and smiled.

He walked down a lonely road, the only road that he has ever known. He doesn't know where it goes, just that he is still alive and he walks alone. He thought of Skylar, but it just made him even more depressed.
