ATA-How it Happened
It was 2017. The Moon suddenly left it's orbit, and the Earth was a dark cold place. Millions caught disease from the cold and darkness, many became crazy and committed suicide, and many were killed by other things. Shadows. Shadows were wiped out when the Moon first appeared, after a meteor struck Earth. The gravitational pull of the moon kept them away. Though, as the moon suddenly disappeared from the orbit, the shadows once again appeared, and killed off most of the disease survivors. Now, only about 8,000 people live in the world, and there is a popular group of rebel survivors in New York City. These survivors are the closest in the world to the Shadow Fortress, and are the only ones that can save the human race from becoming completely extinct.

A little exploration.

Valgon nests were huge. They took up the length of two trees, and were at the far side of the forest. Ari blinked, and found himself under them while taking a stroll. He didn't feel any fear. Just curiosity. There were no adults there anyhow.

Kai walked through the forest, cursing everytime dirt would come up under his feet and everytime a surviving bird cried out in pain. "Blasted forest. Why did I come here in the first place?"

Ari blinked. A few others were following. It was weird how little privacy you received in such a wiped out world. He was so busy thinking that he was stunned by a screech. A large Valgon swooped in, and picked him up by the shoulders. It's claws stabbed into them, and Ari screamed, fighting to grab his cleaver. It was a success, but it was too late. The Valgon, from about 50 feet into the air, dropped Ari. He landed in a nest, unconscious.

Kai laughed a little bit. "Bloody hell. Americans were always a little too protective of their animals." he said, taking out his gun and letting loose fire on the valgons. Some of them flew around in confusion. One swooped down with a battle scarred face and picked up the lightweight boy, tossing him into a tree.

Ari was in the nest of unborn Valgons. The eggs were lined at one side, and Ari at the other. Apparently, the eggs were close to hatching, and Ari would be their first meal.

Kai stood and shot at the valgon. He was wobbling around, seeing doubles.
"You blasted bird." he said in a rather confused tone. The valgon swooped down again and hit the ground inches from him. Kai slashed at it before climbing into the nest. He looked at his hand which was stained a dark red.
"Bloody blood, I'm bleeding all over the bloody place!" he looked at Ari's unconcious form. "Poor lad." he then turned his attention towards the shaking eggs. "Poor me."

Ari stirred, looking up at shaking eggs. "Wha...?" he mumbled. Each of his shoulders had two holes bored straight through them, missing him main artery.

Kai looked warily around him. He couldn't jump down without breaking something. Then he'd just be caught again. A determined look came into his eyes and he loaded his gun and the kunai poked out of his sleeve.

"Can't you jump down from here?" Ari asked calmly, raising an eyebrow. "Well, with me of course. Baby Valgons shouldn't be that hard to fight, but it is to avoid injury and all.

Ari watched her. She was his last hope. Hopefully the trance increased her adrenaline and will to live. He glanced up at Kai. "I don't think I need to hypnotise you for you to help her, do I?"

"Putting yourself before others is sure your thing, eh?" he didn't move, just simply took out his gun and shot one of the valgons as it stumbled out of the egg. "Of course I'll help, I can't really jump off and ditch you can I?"

Skye stabbed a bird in the throat, which killed it, then went on to the next one and slashed it's chest. The bird charged at her, but she stabbed it though the eye.

"To protect your own life?" he inquired. "You don't look like you're in the best condition. If we died then you'd be defenseless." he mused. Throwing the kunai and blasting a valgon into dust.
