Amethyst fought off the memories but they came anyway.

It was one of those nights where her fathers buddies came over. "Hey sweetie. Why don't you go get me a beer?" a man said. Amethyst could only nod and do as he asked. She was coming back when she heard her mother's cried for help. She raced to the living room to find them tearing at her dress. Amethyst noticed a knife in her father's hand. She wanted to scream but she could only watch as her mother got stabbed. Amethyst turned into the kitchen and grabbed the cordless phone, calling 9-1-1. She hid under a table and told them where to go. Then she heard a sing-song voice. "♪Amm-ethy-ssst♪" it called. She gulped and stayed under the table. The table cloth shot up and she was dragged by her hair. Her father's buddies were long gone. Her father on the other hand, was drunker than ever. High off of his first kill. He wanted more. He wanted her. Amethyst struggled but he pulled her into the living room and laid her down next to her dead mother. A knife's blade pressed against her throat. "I promise I won't be a messy with you. We wouldn't want your pretty silver hair to get stained red." Then the police knocked the door down. Shots rang out and a blade cut into her. She passed out, seeing only her father's malicious smile.

Adrian focused on some of the shadows that were closest to her before she spoke. "Don't worry. I'm not too easy to kill!" She tried to say with confidence, but her voice trembled from fear. But as soon as she was quiet again, she rushed towards the shadows, her sword feeling a little heavier than usual in her hands. This was the first time she had ever faced these monsters.

Loki nodded, and ran over to Amethyst. "Let her go, you fucking shadow!" Loki called, and kicked it. It let go of Amethyst.

Amethyst fell to the ground. Her legs basically useless to hold any weight. She pulled then to her chest and laid there. Huddled in a tight ball.

Slowly, and with some difficulty, she sliced through the shadows with all the power she had. She kept swinging her sword until she couldn't feel it go through anything but air. Finally, she turned to see Amethyst lying there. "What's wrong with her?" She asked Loki.

The odd looking shadow was furious. It grabbed on to Loki;s shoulders and transmitted a shadow aura. Suddenly, Loki's vision blurred, and the shadow reformed into someone who seemed familiar. Someone who scared him. That, was his own self. It seemed to look like a mirror, except the other him had red eyes and red hair. Then, his vision flashed again. He was a kid, in a dark room. A woman's voice echoed. Goodbye, honey. Mommy's going to leave for a while...
He waited and waited, but she never returned. He was all alone.

Amethyst shook her head slightly and saw the shadow touching Loki. "NOOO!" She cried, basically tackling the shadow to the ground. She was on top of it, punching it. "GO AWAY!" she screamed.

Loki's vision returned. "W-what..?" he muttered. He saw Adrian, and smiled. "Oh thank god. It's over..."

Amethyst let out a sharp cry before the shadow grabbed her throat, taking her through a portal.

"Noo!" She shouted, watching Amethyst through her little fist fight with the shadow. She dashed as fast as she could towards the girl she hardly knew, but it was no use. She was too slow. "No.." She whispered.

"What the!?" he saw the portal just as it vanished. "Amethyst!?" he called. "We have to find her."

She looked at Loki without saying a word. Tears filled her eyes and blurred her vision. The tip of her sword dropped so that it clanged as it hit the ground. This was like seeing her sister being kidnapped all over it. Images of that horrid night flashed before her eyes. Her facial expression turned from sadness to horror in an instant.

Loki's head was ringing. Shit!You made her cry! he scolded himself. Then, he saw her expression change to horror. "W-what is it?" he asked.

Just as fast as it came, the look disappeared. She snapped back to reality and found her staring at him. She looked down, her cheeks turning pink. "I.. I'm sorry," She managed through her sobs. "It's just memories... of my sister. She was kidnapped too. And I couldn't save her. I couldn't help her in time."

Loki smiled. "Well, this will be different. We will save Amethyst." he held out his hand. "Come on."

She glanced back up at him and smiled slightly, wiping the tears from her face. Carefully, she grabbed his hand then nodded. "Yeah. We will."

Reuben walked through the subways, surprised when he turned a corner and was face to face with two others. He quickly unsheathed his sword and backed off a few steps, preparing to fight.

"Humans are just as bad." He scowled, barely loud enough for them to hear. He started to walk in a seperate direction when a shadow gripped him from behind, instinctively making Reuben flay his sword around wildly.

Adrian stared at the new boy fighting with the shadow. She wanted to help him, but she stayed at Loki's side. She wasn't sure if she would even be able to help anyway. And besides, the sooner they went to help Amethyst, the better.

Amethyst had passed out from the lack of oxygen to her brain. When she had finally awoken she found herself in a living room. Wait... I know this place. Fear crept up her spine. She was laying in a blood stain. HER blood stain. From years ago. She sat up only to see her father staring at her maliciously. "Welcome home darling." he muttered. Amethyst shook violently. Someone help me. They were the same thoughts she had when her father dragged her down the hall many years ago.

Fools! This angered him, and he propped his feet on the wall and arched his back to stab the shadow through the head. He fell to the ground as it turned to smoke, but he brushed himself off and looked at Loki. "You wouldn't know where I could find this..uh..Walmart Gang?" He asked shyly, sheathing his sword.

Loki sighed. "So you heard of us?" he asked. "Well, go to Road Street. We are on a mission. Every second we waste, one of my friends is perishing.

"I may be of assistance." He hated death. It bothered him. And, Reuben had nothing left. He might as well go. Without asking, he started walking with them, not caring if they wanted him there or not.
